The Lupine Blue

Fender’s Blue, endangered subspecies found only in northwestern Oregon. Discovered in early 1920′s, however, was not scientifically documented and named until 1931, later in the decade this butterfly was presumed to be extinct. Small populations were rediscovered in 1989. (further information)
